For owners Peter and Angela Nikolakopoulos, food has always been about more than what’s on the plate. It’s about family, hard work, taking care of people and being part of the community you serve.
Long before Pomodori Newburyport, Peter was learning about food, cooking and the restaurant business from his father George and Mother Maria.
Those early experiences taught him more than how to make great food. They taught him the importance of working hard, treating people well and creating the kind of place where customers and employees feel welcome.
Those lessons stayed with Peter as he built his own career in the restaurant business — and they’re still a big part of Pomodori today.
Peter’s restaurant career has been rooted in the North Shore for more than two decades.
Before Pomodori Newburyport, Peter spent nearly 20 years building the original Pomodori in Ipswich. Over the years, he developed a loyal following, and a reputation built around great food, generous portions and relationships with the people he served. Peter and Angela opened up a Pomodori in their hometown of Georgetown as well.
Eventually, a new opportunity brought the Pomodori story to Newburyport.
In 2019, Peter opened Pomodori Newburyport at 192 State Street and started a new chapter.
The goal wasn’t to reinvent what had worked for years. It was to bring that same love of food, people and community to Newburyport — with a menu big enough to have something for just about everyone.
Today, Pomodori serves pizza, North Shore roast beef, seafood, sandwiches, pasta, salads, wings and plenty more for customers throughout Newburyport and the surrounding North Shore.
Whether it’s a quick lunch, dinner for the family, party trays for a crowd or the order you’ve been getting for years, we want Pomodori to be the kind of local place you can keep coming back to.
Great food matters. But the way you treat people matters just as much.
Make great food, make ordering easy, be friendly and give people a reason to come back.
A restaurant is only as good as the people behind it. We’re proud of the team that makes Pomodori what it is every day. Peter & Angela take great pride in hiring and developing their team members.
Supporting Newburyport and the people and organizations around us isn’t a marketing strategy. It’s part of being a good neighbor.
At Pomodori, family extends beyond the walls of the restaurant. Each year, Peter and Angela award a $1,000 college scholarship to a deserving employee who is heading off to college.
Created in memory of Peter’s mother, Maria, the scholarship is a meaningful way for Peter and Angela to support a young person who has been part of the Pomodori team as they take their next step toward a bright future.
Peter and Angela are proud to invest in the people who have helped make Pomodori what it is—and to help pave the way for the next generation.
For years, Pomodori’s roast beef has been recognized as one of the North Shore’s favorites.
Pomodori has been named Best Roast Beef by Best of the North Shore for six consecutive years: 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026.
It’s a recognition we’re incredibly proud of—and one that means even more because it comes from the community we’ve been serving for generations.

Pomodori wouldn’t be Pomodori without the people who show up every day to make it happen.
From the kitchen to the counter, we’re grateful for a team that works hard, has fun and takes pride in taking care of our customers.
Newburyport has supported Pomodori, and we believe strongly in returning that support.
Giving back has always been an important part of the way Peter and the Pomodori team approach business.
The best recognition will always be customers choosing to come back, but we’re incredibly grateful when the work of our team gets noticed.
Pomodori has been honored by Best of the North Shore, and Peter has also been recognized by Northshore Magazine for his impact on the North Shore community.
We don’t take any of it for granted.
